Home Society Latest News New Dairy Shorthorn Scheme - Launch Ploughing 2011

The Society will launch a New Dairy Shorthorn Scheme at the Ploughing Championships in Athy on Tuesday September 20th. The Scheme will offer an opportunity to all commercial Dairy Farmers whio have used Dairy Shorthorn semen or Dairy Shorthorn Stock bulls in their herds in recent years to register these progeny with the Society. The issuing of certificates for these animals ensures the continuation of important on farm management information such as EBI's and Milk records and pedigree information and cow family information. The certificate adds value at point of sale and also in disease outbreaks such as TB.

The Dairy Shorthorn when crossed on other Dairy breeds brings improved fertility, improved feet & legs with the harder dark hoof, better locomotion and hardiness, and less calving difficulties, all these improvements lead to longer living functional productive cows.

Call to see us at the Ploughing Championships this week, and make sure to get all those Blues and Black & Whites on board.
